I heard that there are several homemade facial scrubs that exfoliate your skin. I wanted to try one using sugar but wasn't sure of the recipe or what else I use. Any ideas?? Thanks! What is a good facial scrub using homemade ingredients like sugar?
I discovered an amazing one the other day and am recommending it EVERYWHERE. It's incredibly simple and works like a charm :)
Get a dixie cup part full of sugar. I usually fill it half way, but less is fine too. Add a little bit of whole or 2% milk. Mix with a spoon until it creates a fairly thick paste (thin enough it'll stick to your face, but thick enough that it isn't runny). I wouldn't fill the cup more than halfway full of sugar because it can take a few tries to get the consistancy right, and you may need to add more sugar.
Use as an exfoliant, and voila! Super soft and healthy skin!
Why?
Sugar is fine enough that it won't harm the soft skin on your face (so long as you don't scrub excessively, of course). Also, it is suitable for more skin types. It won't make you break out like harsh scrubs.
Milk contains many fats (this is why you need 2% or whole milk) which moisturize the body without making it oily and clogging pores. Milk is also high in acids that are good for your skin. Since the acids aren't too strong, they won't harm you at all - but they will cleanse your skin. It also contains beta hydroxy acid, which acts as a natural exfoliant for your skin.
Combined, they exfoliate, cleanse, and moisturize your skin. This is also a great scrub because it's very easy to wash off unlike a lot of scrubs I've used which have left bits in my hairline and all over the shower. The sugar dissolves in the water so it's so simple.
I've also heard about adding honey to the mixture, but I haven't tried it. I'm not keen on using honey products because although they moisture your face, they can be messy.
Good luck! What is a good facial scrub using homemade ingredients like sugar?
Hi Oatmeal is a fantastic scrub. You put it through the grinder first to make it into a fine powder. Add a squeeze of lemon, some honey a spoon full of sugar and a few drops of olive oil..hey presto an nice instant face scrub. The oatmeal and sugar will exfoliate. The lemon will brighten and the olive oil will moisturize. You can use almond oil if you have it. You can also add a few drops of aromatherapy oils if you have them. Rose is always a good one. Ylang Ylang is good for dry skin and tea tree for oily. Look up different aromatherapy oils on the web to suit your skin type.
It's fun to expierement with what does work %26amp; what doesn't on yours skin. For dry %26amp; sensitive skin defenitly try an oil based as olive oil %26amp; sugar, don't rub very hard.
And all skin types benifit from a mix of oats, sugar, %26amp; yes, even milk in a scrub. Don't cook it, just mix it til it becomes a paste with a little water, Or again you can use olive or another oil, almond oil is very good for your skin......... Good luck!
you can try it with green tea.
put a green tea bag in about 2 tbsp or water (very little) so that the green tea becomes very dark. take one table spoon or green tea and mix 1 tbsp of sugar in it. it'll probably melt. wait for a little while and then take one more tbsp of sugar and mix it in again and this time teh sugar shouldn't all melt completely. then you can start putting it on you face and exfoliating :)
when you're done, wash off all the sugar with warm water. and with the remaining green tea (sugarless), use it as a toner and apply all over your face.
thats it, it's really simple :) and then you can just make a new cup of green tea with the rest of the tea bag. very cheap and it works!
i use just sugar by itself [ along with water or i may add some facial cleanser ] or sugar with oatmeal. ive heard that crushed almonds work well also
I heard of sugar, lemon, and vitaimin E mix together, but i haven't try it.
