  • What is the BEST FACIAL SCRUB?!?

i'm want a good facial exfoliater/scrub that will really smooth my skin. I prefer something from Sephora, but if theres some from CVS or a drugstore that works well, then recommend it.

ThanksWhat is the BEST FACIAL SCRUB?!?
Aveeno makes one that is really nice, I think it's the skin brightening scrub, I go to a dermatologist and he recommended it. Always read the label of the products you put on your face and be sure it says non-comedogenic or won't clog pores.

Whatever you do, DO NOT EVER use the St. Ives Apricot Scrub! My dermatologist says this is the WORST thing you could ever do to your face and it should only be used as a foot scrub. It's so rough that it leaves tiny scratches on the surface of the skin that cause even more acne.

I've actually had 2 dermatologists and everyone that has ever given me a facial tell me not to use the St.Ives Apricot exfoliating scrub. Trust the pros. If these girls have ever see a professional they would not use that product on their face. What is the BEST FACIAL SCRUB?!?
St. Ives apricot scrubs work great, the one i use it the

Apricot Scrub *EXFOLIATING* the container is mostly white and orange with apricots on it, and you can usually buy it at any drugstore

Also, for a cleaner, the neutrogena wave works so great i love it, my skin is so soft afterwards. garnier fructus cream cleanser works pretty good as well, you see results with it if youi use it everyday for about a week or 2, your skin gets really soft. Also try the aveeno brand, its pretty good
You can buy biore ex foliating scrub at a drugstore or something like walmart and that one really makes your skin ';glow'; as well as giving it a proper and thorough clean. I suggest this one for face softness. I use it and I started to see changes in my skin within like 3 washes. I believe they have a sensitive skin option also for skin with more acne! try a homemade facial scrub. it works exactly thr same only its natural and free. use salt or sugar. i reccomend salt, because it gets rid of bacteria.
Apricot Scrub: Invigorating: ~$4.00 at a drugstore.
the vibrating thinger from neutrogena: the wave or something like that...
you should try Noxzema every morning
My fave is St. ives Apricot Scrub (there's also one that helps get rid of acne)

I have had more success with this product than any other. All my friends use it and they love it too. Neutrogena doesn't work at all in my opinion and they test on poor animals! Plus their scrubs have plastic beads in them! Do you want plastic on your face, or all natural ingredients? Trust me this product works very well! Does st.ives apricot facial scrub really work as it says it does????? plz help?
Yes and no. The scrub is designed to exfoliate the skin and also has cleansing ingredients. It is unhealthy to the skin to over exfoliate. If you have acne or pimples you should not use any form of scrub because it may spread the bacteria making the breakout worse. Also if you scrub the skin and remove all of the natural oils you may actually make the skin even oilier because the skin is an organ that is adaptable to different conditions. When the protective oils are suddenly stripped the skin will overcompensate and make the skin even oilier.
there is no such thing as a miracle product that works for everyone

it depends on how your skin reacts with the product

and so since everyone's skin is different, we can't tell you

you'll have to test it out for yourself as it works for some people and doesn't for others

personally i have used that apricot scrub before and i liked it, it made my skin smooth (but i never had much of an acne or blackhead problem to begin with)
not really. i have it, and while it says it will clear your pores b/c of the scrub, the only way they'll be clear is if you really really rub it in. Like, rubbing your skin raw. Not worth it.
I have used this product and I love how it works. It's especially good if you have normal to oily skin. If you have dry skin, try St. Ives Olive Scrub.
I've used it before and then after I used a toner and the cotton ball had a lot of dirt on it. So my face wasn't even clean. I use ORIGINS now. it costs but it's worth it.
if you have major acme then it wont work as well as other facial scrubs work.

i used to use it and it worked pretty well so yeah

Nope! I use to wash my face with that product and it caused red spots on my face. It smells unpleasant and I think you should try something like Neutrogena!
I'm surprised that no one thinks it works because it does for me.

I guess it depends on skin type.
Try www.SkinID.com its personalized acne medication
YES! I use it everyday and have been for 3 years.
    not all the time

hmm, St. Ives. It has special beads that aren't too harsh for your skin, but can clean your pores. It is good for sensitive skin and smells nice. If you really have a problem with blackheads get the neutrogena wave.
I have super sensitive skin and I use that foaming clean and clear wash, then a clean and clear moisturizer. It doesn't irritate my skin at all and makes it feel really soft.
i use st.ives naturally clear apricrot scrub for blackheads and clean%26amp;clear oil free foaming cleanser for pimples above the surface.

    When to apply facial scrub.?

I've recently got a facial scrub to prevent the causes of spots and stuff but it doesn't say when to apply it?

Do i apply in the morning or at night or whenever?

How many times a week? Daily? When to apply facial scrub.?
    Morning and Night,

After you wake up, before you sleep.

    Everyday.When to apply facial scrub.?
if you have dry skin, I suggest you apply it once every two weeks only.

acne prone skins on the other hand are not advisable to be scrubbed.

The best time to scrub your face is after a dusty work, preferably at night when you're about to sleep to reduce the appearance of spots and promote blood circulation so you'll have a rosy white low when you wake up. but if you have vessicular problems such as vasoconstrictipoon or vasodilation, refrain from using facial scrubs since it may worsen your situation by allowing you to develop visible blood capillaries which you may find attractive at first since your skins appears rosy but as time passes, you'll suffer from vessel problems and blood problems.
Use Neutrogena Stress Control Scrub or St. Ive's or Clean %26amp; Clear SOFT Scrub that you use in the shower. They're all awesome. Your suppose to use a scrub about 3 times a week. That good enough.
If you are using to exfoliate (slough-off dead skin) you can apply anytime after you have cleansed your face. Usually you want to do it about 3 times a week.
i use the scrub when i get into the shower and use that instead of soap. i like the apricot by st ives. but i only use it once daily. most times i shower more than once a day. so whenever u have time and think about it. i would put it in the shower so u can make it routine unless ur skin is exceedingly oily. good luck
once a week, gently work in circular motions.

Don't do it any more than that otherwise the capillaries under your skin will break and cause you have red patches.
Usually morning and night.. sometimes its only once though

It should say under 'directions' on the container, either 'once daily' or 'twice daily' or something like that.

If not, then apply both morning and night :)

    Mine?? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
It should tell you on the bottle some are daily or twice a day and some are weekly i use mine twice a day
my facial scrub I apply morning and night, and it works great!
    d
It should say so on the directions. But if not, I would recommend morning and night every day.

  • Facial Scrub vs Cleanser?

What is the difference between a facial scrub and cleanser? Which is best for acne prevention? Would it be better to use both?Facial Scrub vs Cleanser?
dont use a scrub for acne its to crucial on your skin. use a soft soap continuously it'll get worse but its just cleaning it out so it has to get worse before it clears up trust meFacial Scrub vs Cleanser?
hi this is the scentimental skin doctor speaking well I can just advise you that the fact you have acne is a bit of a problem. but first i will explain the difference the difference between scrubs and body butters . sugar scrubs are exfoliating and open the pours of your skin and and clear all dead on the facial surface and the natural oil are most important to the skin

the body butter which is cocobutter based with fresh hand made product and essential oils that moisturize and cleanse the skin

we have customers that us our recommendations on ailments such as having dry skin curyicis scentimental body butter may do the trick and the sugar scrub will help exfoliate the skin and maybe thats just what you need .

scentimental skin doc over and out
facial scrub should only be used once or twice a week because it actually causes your skin to produce MORE oil, which could aggrivate acne if you already have it.. use a good cleanser with salilic (sp?) acid once a day and a good gentle cleanser once a day (one morning and one night washing) for acne prevention
A scrub has tiny, rough particles in it that remove dead skin cells while you wash. You can do the same thing with a cleanser, though, by using a loofah when you wash.
I use St Ives cleansing pads along with St Ives Moisturizer. i never have breakouts...Try it I love it.
If you have acne...buy Proactive. It is the best! Drug store scrubs and cleansers can cause you to break out because it strips the ';good'; oil from your sking. Proactive is gentle and it comes with a gentle scrub cleanser, toner, and preventative cream. My skin feels great after using it and I will be using it always...
i cleanser is better because some facial scrub contain harsh gritty things in them that can tear your skin and cleansers are much more gently on your face.

Which is better- Face Wash or Facial Scrub for acne?

nmWhich is better- Face Wash or Facial Scrub for acne?
I use a combination of both, actually. I use a face wash twice a day (morning and night) and prepare a facial scrub once a week. Face wash will remove the impurities from the top layer of the skin, but will not do much as far as the deeper layers of the skin and pores where the problems with acne come from anyway. When you follow up with a facial scrub, the pores will open up and all that dirt and excess oil causing acne will come out. You can also use a facial steam which will enhance cleansing even further (great recipe here: http://www.skin-care-recipes-and-remedie鈥?/a>

I have found a great recipe for facial cleanser, you can see it here: http://www.skin-care-recipes-and-remedie鈥?/a>

Do it regularly, watch what you eat, and the results will follow, guaranteed.Which is better- Face Wash or Facial Scrub for acne?
    Either is fine.
use face wash every day, and a scrub only a few times a week
Facial scrub can damage the sensitive skin on your face if used too much. Use a good facial wash every day (skinlogics cleansing gel) and a good facial scrub (skin logics facial scrub) only about two times a week.

    hope this helps out! ((:
Face wash twice a day, scrub/exfoliate once a week.

Facial scrub for seriously dry skin? ?

For anybody who has dry/reactive/sensitive skin-

I just started using a cream with retinol in it recently. I already have skin that is prone to dryness, but this has added to the dryness and has resulted in a ton of peeling. I have tried a few scrubs over the past week, but none have been useful as far as exfoliating the flaky skin.

What is a good exfoliant that you would recommend for very flaky skin? I am looking for one that is considerably strong.Facial scrub for seriously dry skin? ?
I'd say The Body Shop's range of exfoliators, cleansers, masks, moisturizers etc for dry/flaky skin.

The most amazing product for me is Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. It would fix it over night! Give it a try :)

Good luck.Facial scrub for seriously dry skin? ?
Table salt will do the trick.Put a tsp. salt in the palm of your hand.Add a little water,it should look like dry paste. Then use a wash cloth and slowly move in small circles all over your face.Be very careful and do not get too close to your eyes.Rinse your face and repeat again. When you have finished the second time, make sure you rinse your face well.Last, apply a moisturizing lotion.Do this once a day for 4 days and then do it every three days.Your skin will look great and feel so soft.
It could actually be a dietry need you may want to take some vitamins such as fish oil. also exfolianting is good but if u r doing it on a daily basis it can acutally be very damaging and extend your problem. exfoliate a minium of one time every wk and use face creme daily with spf of at least 15 in it.

Id go to ur doctor and ask for a referal to ur nearest skin specialist that would be your best option.

    Best of luck

I have a question about exfoliating facial scrub..?!?

Hey, I am currently using Clean and Clear Morning Burst Detoxifying Face Scrub, and its great, and today, i felt like picking up a new c%26amp;c face scrub, this time a C%26amp;C Deep Action Exfoliating face scrub, and I'm going to use it either tonight, or this morning, but if i use the deep action exfoliating scrub every day (in the morning) will my face be over exfoliated?? I'm just going to use it every day, not every day AND night. will that be okay?

thanks.I have a question about exfoliating facial scrub..?!?
I use this St. Ives Apricot scrub on my face and body and it works miracles on my skin. I use it every other day and I sopa with Clean and Clear Facial Cleanser (amber colour) and my skin is so smooth and feels wonderful and looks great, I am 65 years old. It also keeps the wrinkles away.. I have none. You will never exfoliate too much unless you scrub very hard. Moisturize after use though.I have a question about exfoliating facial scrub..?!?
You don't want to exfoliate everyday. You can strip your skin of the healthy layers of skin and oils by doing that. Scrub should only be used once or twice a week. If your skin really needs it, you can use it a little more often, but everyday is not good for the skin.

I used to work in skin care.
Exfoliating scrub is for getting rid of death skin cells, and for that your skin actually doesn't need a daily scrub. When you use scrub very often in a long period, your skin can get very dry and even irritated. It's better to use it about 2 times a week!
Yes, 3 times a week is enough. I have some permanent damage on my face from over exfoliating. Now mine was just regular exfoliate, its even worse if you use those containing AHA because they really strip the skin.
I had the same Problem In High school stay away from soda drink apple Juice oj Pineapple Banana and More watter with some fish oil start with a big Loaf Of Bread .
no your skin would just be extremely fine!

    New Dove facial scrub?

I was wondering if any of you have tried this new product? It is a wand with an attached cloth that foams up under hot water. You turn it on and it basically does the work for you. I like the idea of it because it means less washcloths I have to do in my laundry. Thanks!New Dove facial scrub?
I have it and for me, it works great! I just bought it i think a month ago, and my face doesn't feel as it did before. I would recomend it to you :) Just know, some people's skins are different!

I have a facial cleanser, scrub, and lotion. Should I use all three daily?

I'm 25, don't have any pimples, not oily or too dry, when should I use these 3 products?

Clean %26amp; clear makeup cleanser, Clean %26amp; Clear Oxygenating scrub, Clean %26amp; Clear oxygenating face lotionI have a facial cleanser, scrub, and lotion. Should I use all three daily?
The scrub you will need once a week or so, the other products you can use daily.I have a facial cleanser, scrub, and lotion. Should I use all three daily?
The cleanser and lotion should be fine to use every day. However, I would use the scrub only once every 3 days or once a week. Using the scrub everyday will irritate your skin.
stop using everything that you are using

use a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer for normal skin

at this age and with your skin type.. you don't need anything else
You should always use the cleanser 2 times a day, morning and night.

A toner should be used after cleansing 2 times a day, an excellent homemade toner is to take green tea, let it steep, and then add it into a spray bottle(small), great toner!!!

Exfoliation should be used in accordance with your skin type.

Generally 2 a week is good, always remember sun screen, after exfolation your skin is more subject to a burn.
Don't use the scrub every day. If you're washing with a cleanser every day you don't need the scrub every day. Wash with the cleanser every morning before makeup and every night to take off the makeup. Every other day with the scrub just to get all the makeup buildup. Use the moisturizer everyday. (I put mine on before I put on my makeup - it seems to make my base go on smoother.)
you sud use it weekly or once in 15 days depending on your skin condition...also you can use ultrasound cleanser to give better effects
Definitely use the cleanser and lotion every day. Actually it is best to do it both morning and night. I'm not familiar with the scrub you have but depending on how 'rough' it is, I would only suggest using it two or three times a week. If it is really gentle, it could be used every day.
The cleanser I would use daily, morning and night - especially at night since you would be taking off makeup at that time. Also, I would use the lotion after the cleanser. I've heard from countless ladies that this is where we don't do so well: in the mosturizing department. Using lotion one to two times daily will help with wrinkles later in life. As for the scrub, I would use it once a week. You definitely don't want to overdo it or acne and redness could occur from irritation.
your fine just the way you are. save your money
the scrub should be used once a week but the cleanser and lotion use daily
I suppose its gd, but like what others say u can use scrub like 2 times a week. but i would like to add on, after your scrub you can like do masks, paper or washed off(dun use peel off as it will hurt your skin and don't use deep cleansing clay/mud as its more for oily skin it will make your skin dry) as after scrubing it will cleans off the dead skin and white%26amp;black heads, and there will be spaces empty, in your skin if you don't work on masks to fill them up and nourish your skin, the dirts and stuff will start filling and not long later your skin will b filled with black and white heads again.

If you hv little bit of wrinkles i recommend L'oreal wrinkle filler, if your pores r big u can try clinques pore minimizer. If everything is fine just stick to what you have and probably mask.
These products sound like they will either oil up your face or scrub it dry. I suggest using the scrub probably every other weekend, the lotion just a tiny squirt at night, and the cleanser every morning and night if it isn't too harsh. If your skin is oily, you might not want to do the lotion alot. I use proactiv, but only the lotion. Do not use toner, I am telling you. Also, the clean and clear morning burst leaves you feeling fresh and clean in the morning. Try it. I know you'll love it. Also, the Neutrogena Icy Scrub. I also use the oxygenating scrub, too!
well tech. your only suppose to scrub once or twice a week but i do a little scrub everyday then deff. wash on lotion up daily.. in every magazine and article i have read it says to only wash twice a day so you dont dry your skin out and then there no limit to lotion its good for your skin!
The cleanser and lotion can both be used twice daily, but the scrub I would only use twice a week or so.

  • Honey and Lemon, facial scrub?

I am looking for homemade ingredients that can be used as a facial scrub. I am not too fond of using salt and/or sugar as facial cleansers. I was wondering would a mixture of honey, lemon, and warm water do good?Honey and Lemon, facial scrub?
This facemask uses lemon and works great! It is good for tightening pores and preventing breakouts.

7 medium size strawberries(I use frozen and then thaw them)

    2 tbsp lemon juice

    1 tbsp water

Purade strawberries in a blender, then mix with the lemon juice and water. Put on a cotton ball and apply to face. Leave on for 5-10 minutes and then wash off. Works amazingly! I love it!

Hope this helpsHoney and Lemon, facial scrub?
you could call the store Lush and they would tell you or you could buy some nice homeade ones there. Ive used them they work really well:)
Not unless you want bees swarming you.
Lemon is very acidic, but packed with Vitamin C. Try putting in just a few drops of lemon juice (unless uve already got a recipe in hand?)

I don't see it as a scrub if theres no sugar/salt to exfoliate... could be called a mask i suppose? the honey's gonna b rather sticky... so i wouldnt see it as a nice scrub/cleanser... but its up to your preferences :)

try adding a teaspoon of milk to the recipe :) it tightens your skin and smoothens out your skintone.

another tip i think would work would be putting on some lemon juice and steaming up your face (i.e. hot water in basin with your face over it, covered with a towel). it'll open your pores and the vitamin would be absorbed. tried and tested ;) it works on my blackheads on my nose.
Lemon and honey wont make a scrub they will make a mask, to get a scrub you will have to use sugar or something granulated to get a scrub.

Can i use facial scrub everyday?

I wouldn't recommend it. It can irritate skin and make it red. Usually the products have a ';Use one to two times a week'; on it, or at least a few that I've used did.Can i use facial scrub everyday?
I've read everyones answer and I'm not too sure I agree. All labels say to use it 1 or 2 a week. Of course you should use a moisturiser afterwards, or even better, a hydrating mask. I suppose it depends on your skin. If you feel 1 or 2 a week isn't enough then use it every 2nd day, always following up with a hydrating moisturiser and or mask. If after the 1st week your skin hasn't dried up or isn't peeling slightly, only then try using it every day. Everyones skin is different, so you have to be able to judge how often you use the scrub by the way your skin feels after each week of use.Can i use facial scrub everyday?
Its not reccomended. If you want to or need to though, use a micro exfoliant. Not a gritty scrub. If you exfoliate too much, you will irriate the new, soft skin that is left after scrubbing.
The best facial scrub you can ever get is Baking soda and Brown Sugar.....

Your skin feels reall smooth n soft right after the first application.
i wouldn't recommend it. Facial scrub is intended to be used at least once a week. If u have extremely oily skin, then you can use it 2-3x, but not more than that. Just make sure to use moisturizer everyday and every time after washing face.
    sure.
    yeah

just make sure you put on some sort of lotion after wards so you're face doesn't dry out.
I don't see why not, as long as it's a quality product that derms recommend that won't be too rough on the skin. I used to use the apricot stuff, but I don't know if it's the best. I like Crystal Peel, and I shop the sales when I can find them online. It's much more concentrated with grains and works beautifully.
I use Swiss Apricot Scrub everyday..twice a day..and Ihave great skin. Of course, following the scrub, I apply a moisturizer at night and a moisturizer and sunscreen during the day.

    Good luck!!
yes, you deff can use it everyday but be careful, not to dry out your skin and if it does feel dry use lotion.

I need help finding a facial scrub/wash and a moisturizer!!?

okay, I have skin that gets oily quickly and when I wash it(no matter what kind of soap/facial scrub/wash) I use it always gets dry and sometimes kinda flaky. So I guess what im wondering is what is the best facial scrub/wash for a person with oily skin and what is the best moisturizer?? right now I use a ponds moisturizer and it leaves my face feeling greasy and I cant wear make up because it either looks greasy as well or if I dont apply the moisturizer it looks flaky!! helpI need help finding a facial scrub/wash and a moisturizer!!?
You need to moisturize even if you have oily skin, but you need to use the right products for your skin type. This is what I use for my oily skin: Mary Kay 3 - in - 1 Cleansing Bar, Blemish Control Toner 3, Oil Control Lotion 3, Clarifying Mask 3, and Beauty Blotters. I also use MK's Microdermabrasion once a week to reduce the size of my pores since people with oily skin usually have larger pores.

Mary Kay is one of only two companies that has a cleansing bar that is a deep cleaner. The Beauty Blotters are made of linen instead of paper and absorb excess oil without disturbing your makeup. You can toss them in your purse and dab your skin with them anytime you need to. They give your skin a fresh matte finish without adding more product to your face.I need help finding a facial scrub/wash and a moisturizer!!?
I use the entire Mary Kay line. The time wise cleanser is amazing, the moisturizer is very light and you feel like you hardly have anything on and the microderm home kit is amazing.

If you have any questions feel free to send me an email.
PONDS???!! a bad choice!!! you want to do this: Try Dove or Caress soap, or Cetaphil lotion; most any drugstore has their own version of Cetaphil, right next to it on the same shelf, at a lower price; 3 of the best, gentle skin cleansers; you must treat oily skin as sensitive skin ( a dermatologist told me this once).

.Wash your hands before you wash your face..then lather up; .with the lather still on, take ordinary baking soda and put some in the palm of your hand; slowly add water, a few drops at a time, until it forms a paste...then GENTLY massage into the lather/face, starting at the forehead, using circular motions; go all over the fact at least 3 times; do not scrub too hard; gentle does it.. just make sure you can feel the baking soda doing its work..then rinse rinse rinse with COOL not COLD and NOT HOT or warm water...rinsing is very very important!!

Then blot dry and apply your moisturizer ONLY to the eye area and throat....

DO NOT USE Ponds;;; its' way to heavy!! look for any moderatly priced moisturizer, made for oily skin...if you want to use it all over the face, esp. in cold weather, you can, but in warm weather only around the eyes %26amp; on the throat....the baking soda exfoliates %26amp; will help with the flakiness; you are getting flakes as the Ponds is so heavy it just builds and builds up on your skin; the baking soda will get rid of that..

Use the baking soda 2 times a week.

.For a mask, use generic milk of magnesia; just smooth it on clean skin and leave on til it dries; about 5-10 minutes, then, again, rinse rinse off with cool water...it's the best, lowest price mask there is, and again you can find any drugstore brand DO NOT pay higher prices for the national brand...Trust me, I've been doing this myself for many years and my skin always looks good, and if you wear makeup it will look fantastic!! please try this and email me if you have any questions......have fun......

Oil of Olay has a good one. Try that one.
So, your face is feeling greasy because Ponds is definitely not right for you. You need to regulate your skin. 2 good lines for your skin type are Murad and Arbonne. I know they are not cheap but you want to spend your money on your regimine products.

You need a moisturizing wash (dont worry here will not make you oily), a good scrub and an oil-free moisturizer.

I would recommend - Arbonne RE9 Wash and Scrub (or buy the Men's one - it is a wash/scrub combo!) and then use the Murad Pomengranate Moisturizer - it is oil-free with an SPF.

Also try a masque once a week like the Murad Enzyme Masque or the Arbonne Thermal Fusion Masque.

    Hope this helps!

Exfoliating, a process that removes dead skin, is especially important for people with oily skin. A good facial scrub may take some experimentation to decide on for your particular pH and skin type. Using a facial scrub once or twice a week can help reduce small lines and make your skin softer.

So, I do believe facial scrub is a great method to rejuvenate your skin.Does any body think simple facial scrub is any good?

scrubs as a whole are good

scrubs are the worst thing to use!

they only aggravate them, making the redder.
Why waste your money on scrubs when you can buy a bath mitt that does the same job for $1.

Pick up a knit mesh mitt and use the same gentle soap or lotion you use to cleanse your face.

Before you scrub, use a couple of wet wipes (well rinsed) and soak your face with them in the bath for 4 or 5 minutes. It will hydrate the dead skin and make it much easier to remove with a gentle scrub.

After use a good moisturizer, like Cetaphil lotion/cream. Not too pricey and recommended by many dermatologist I've seen for my Rosacea.

I do this process every two days and my skin is a smooth and lovely as my 4 year olds. Well, maybe not quite that flawless, but I do get compliments at least 2 or 3 times a week.
I'm sure it exfoliates well but when buying a cosmetic product you should always maximise it's potential and think about it's holistic effects such as scent, exfoliant, moisturiser, vitamin booster, firmer, collagen injector...,... I believe that you should go for the best you can possibly get rather than just using it as a basic product. If you find the more enriched products are too expensive then try supplementing them with cheaper basics... such as combining nivea face cream with a sun block and vitamin e oil...
Yeah its brilliant and you feel the results straight away. i recommend neutrogena

Thanks.Facial Scrub or Cleanser for dry, flaky skin?
    Hey,

If you have acne you should not use scrub because only makes it worse. You should wait until you don't have any inflammations and then use the scrub or you can use the scrub on the part of your face where acne doesn't appear.

Even if you have dry skin you should use both the scrub and the cleanser because one doesn't do what another does. Basically it means that cleanser can clean your face, but if you have acne or something similar only the scrub will do the job and clean the pores completely. Use the scrub once a week only regularly and the cleanser twice a day, morning and evening.

Afterwards use the moisture lotion which will try to put the moisture back to your skin and then a moisture cream. Don't put too much as the skin can only handle a little from the treatment. To much creates acne because it stuff the pores and close them.

I would advice you to start using the Clinique 3 step set which will give your skin everything what you need.

And one more thing: there is nothing in the world which will replace a visit by dermatologist. If you try 4 visits I think you will notice a big difference.

    Try!

    Cheers

What do you look at while purchasing facial scrubs, hand and body washes, body lotions?

Quality, Quantity, Effect, Brand, Status, Skin Type.... and so on!What do you look at while purchasing facial scrubs, hand and body washes, body lotions?
The first thing to do is suss out what kind of skin type you have. The main categories are:

Sensitive - you have allergic reactions to lots of products

Dry - flaky, tight skin when not moisturized

Oily - shiny and oily (obviously)

Combination - a little oily around the t-zone and dry or normal on the cheeks

    Acne-prone - lots of spots

Normal - none of the above

Lots of people fall in two categories - for example, I'm Combination/Sensitive.

For people with dry skin, they look for creamy products with lots of rich moisturizers, and products that are gentle enough to remove dirt but not strip away natural oils.

For people with sensitive skin, all-natural, organic products with natural ingredients is the way to go. People with sensitive skin should stay away from products with preservatives, colour and perfume.

Oily skin needs light, water-based moisture and has to be kept very clean without stripping away too much natural oil, which causes the skin to produce even more oil as a reaction. Everything has to be oil-free and non-comedegonic or however the hell you spell it.

For combination skin you have to find the balance between moisture and oily-skin care - most people use two different moisturizers.

Acne-prone skin need products with active acne banishers like benzoryl peroxide or, the more traditional sulphur. There are lots of products for acne-prone skin at supermarkets and drugstores, but if acne is really bad the best products are prescription-only that your doctor has to reccomend and can only be bought at a chemist.

Normal skin people can be a bit more relaxed about their skincare regime, and you can worry a bit more about price ranges.

hope this helped. What do you look at while purchasing facial scrubs, hand and body washes, body lotions?
Number one thing for me is it has to smell good...and have ingredients that agree with my skin...for example no mineral oil. I look for natural ingredients as opposed to things I can't pronounce.

If you want to see hundreds of reviews on these types of products, I love going to makeupalley.com its my fav site for any type of cosmetic or skincare reviews. Basically it saved me lots of wasted time and money.

Y should you only use facial scrub like 1/2 times a week?

depends on you and your skin AND the scrub.

I use a really gentle scrub 2 times a week. (Am a red-head w/really senstive skin). I find that my skin stays clearer that way, especially in the summer.

Be sure to choose a scrub that does not contain nut shells -- those are sharp and actually cut your skin (microscopically).

In the winter time, i use a wash cloth and a gentle soap like Dove (no scrub), but i use it every day.Y should you only use facial scrub like 1/2 times a week?
because your skin needs time to regenerate...you can麓t scrub it all away.Y should you only use facial scrub like 1/2 times a week?
If you use it too often, you might make your face red and sensitive from all the scrubbing.
how can I use it a half a time a week?
otherwise it will damage ur skin

    I need a good facial scrub...any recommendations?

despite what some beauticians say about grainy scrubs damaging and scarring the skin....i like scrubs that are very grainy because i see immediate effect - my skin becomes smooth and shiny.

but i can't seem to find a good grainy scrub which isn't highly expensive.

    i have combination skin.

you could use LUMINOUS LOTION by MARC SEBASTIEN, it works well for that matter. It's a toner/skincare fluid.

It is formulated with organic distillates and a key active complex: vegetable-derived inulin %26amp; malic acid (from apple). The compound is twice as effective as pure salicylic acid/glycolic acid. It also contains a high amount of natural nutrional factors.

All together, they cleanse and revitalize your skin, which helps prevent more blackheads/pimples in the future. The fluid also protects your skin.

A piece of advice... Check that your day/night cream do not contain any heavy compounds such as mineral oil or large amounts of vegetable butter (small amounts are actually good). They tend to clog the pores a little too much for skin types like yours.

You want creams that are richer in humectant (typically glycerin, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, etc.), meaning the name should appear at least in 3rd or 4rth position in the ingredient list.

When you need an emollient cream (ei night cream), choose silicone derivatives (any word that ends in ';icone';, such as dimethicone, cyclomethicone, etc.) over mineral oil bases (paraffinum liquidum, petroleum, etc.).

Silicone based ingredients are completely neutral to the skin, so they won't cause breakouts or any unwanted reaction.

Your choice of moisturizer is very important after using a facial scrub. Because you just stripped your skin, so it is more sensitive to bacterias and other irritating factors that cause the formation of blackheads, or other problems.

I work at a dermatology clinic and I have to say we see your kind of profile pretty often.

I suggest you browse MARC SEBASTIEN... For every product they feature, they have a ';SkinDeep'; article that teaches you about how the skin functions. You may want to read the one associated to LATHER EXTRACT.

We work with them a lot, because their formulas are good and authentic and most of all, they observe the upmost clarity with their customers. They want them to understand what they are buying.

I don't think they sell to the public yet (in the US, they are popular in France), but I know it is planned for this fall. And best of all - they are coming up with a skincare blog that will extend customer education!

I personally use their products as well. But regardless, their site has a lot of great information. Something worth doing with them is simply sign up for their newsletter. It doesn't come very often yet (probably will be more frequent once the blog is started) but it's always packed with useful tip.

Getting rid of spots (caused by oily skin) without facial scrubs?

I really just don't have any time to go out to get a scrub and would like these spots to be gone in a weeks time any easy and effective home made remedies? Thanks.Getting rid of spots (caused by oily skin) without facial scrubs?
No homemade recipes, but a benzoyl peroxide cream like Quinoderm or Clearasil will stop your skin producing the excess oil, and reduce the spots in about five days.Getting rid of spots (caused by oily skin) without facial scrubs?
Spots are caused by bacteria on the face infecting pores. If you have a better immune system, you don't get spots as easily. Therefore make sure you eat well (lots of fruit and veg). Also they can be encouraged at your time of the month so be aware of that.

There are two ways to deal with spots- you can treat the spot or try to prevent it. As your skin is oily I'd suggest adding 10 drops tea tree oil (you can get it from holland and barrett) to a bottle of witch hazel (from superdrug about 2 quid). After washing your face (you should do this twice a day morn and night) rub over your face with cotton wool. Have you always had oily skin, was it ever very dry for a period before becoming oily. You could be stripping you skin of too much oil so its over producing.

If your skin isn't sensitive then dab tea tree oil straight onto spots, but bare in mind it can be a bit drying. Lavender oil is a bit gentler than tea tree, but not as good at making it less inflamed. If it is sensitive, then dab the witch hazel solution onto spots during the day.

There is a skin care range called Witch that my sister uses and says its good, so that's worth a try. She uses the foaming face wash.

Exfoliation (facial scrubs) do contribute to good skin. Dead skin cells can block pores and cause black heads and trap bacteria. So try to exfoliate once or twice a week or more if your skin can deal with it. A good cheap natural scrub you can make is by using a coffee grinder to grind up sunflower seeds. Mix with a little water and massage into your skin.

A toner will rid you of excess oil and freshen the skin. Astringents tighten pores and therefore make them look smaller. Witch hazel is a good astringent.

    Mint-Vinegar Toner

1 tbsp dried mint ot 3 tbsp fresh mint

    2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 cup distilled water (or you can use rose water if you can't find dist. water)

The acid of the vinegar will help keep you skin an acidic Ph which will guard against infection.

Mix all ingredients together. Stir thoroughly and allow to sit for 3 days. Strain or filter the mint leaves. Pour toner into a clean bottle and apply to face with cotton wool..

    Strawberry Acne Mask

    1/2 cup fresh strawberries

    1 egg white

    2 tsp honey

Strawberries contain salycylic acid which is in many commercial products for acne/spots. Honey is a well known antibacterial ingredient. Both are beneficial if you have spots. Mix together using a blender or fork. Spread over your face and neck and leave for 20 mins. Rinse with cool water and pat skin dry. Refridgerate any leftover for up to a week.

If you use make-up and use your fingers in pots of foundation, concealer etc then make sure you wash before you use so you don't introduce bacteria to it, or use a spoon or cotton bud to get it out.. Keep your hair and hands off your face, your hair will aggravate your skin and your hands touch door handles, toilet locks, and surfaces which all will have lots of bacteria on!

Get plenty of sleep and try not to get stressed out which can cause spots! Good luck with your skin.
Neutrogena makes a spot gel kind of stuff, and you just rub it on the spot that is starting to come up, and the gel just takes the oil out of it. And you can rub a super-thin layer on your face everyday to keep oil of of you whole face. It might dry your skin out, though, so make sure you have some really good oil-free moistruizer. I reccommend Biore's pore-minimizing moisturizer, because it's got sunscreen in it as well.

1- Wash your skin with glycerin based soaps or sorbitol based cleansers

In order to keep your skin oil free and clean from dirt it is very important to periodically wash your face water using glycerin based soap. By using glycerin based soap or sorbitol based face cleanser, you will get rid of all your skin鈥檚 oil without over-drying or irritating it. Also another reason for using these types of soaps is that they also balance the acidity of your skin, this creates a hostile environment for bacteria to grow resulting in a cleaner face.

Oatmeal is known to be a very good in help you maintain an oil free skin by absorbing it. All you have to do is make a thick paste by mixing regular oatmeal and water and apply it to your face for 10 to 20 minutes twice a day, preferably in the morning and at night before going to sleep. Rinse the paste off your face preferably with cool water.

3- Honey and apples facial mask

Another very effective facial mask for those with oily skin is made from honey and apples. Just make an apple paste and add 3 to 4 tablespoons of honey mix it well and gently apply it to your face, leave it to work for 15 minutes, the rinse it well with warm water.

Spread a little toothpaste on your zit before going to sleep at night. This is supposed to reduce zit swelling. It鈥檚 one of the most popular home remedies because it really works.
t zone sell a really good wee roll on spot thingy , it's quite astringent and basically kills the spots and you just roll it over the spot like a lipgloss type of thing and i find it great as I also have oily skin and the redness of the spots get reduced greatly.
Stop eating all those chips, sweets and big macs. Then drink plenty of water instead of alcopops. That should do the trick!!
what i usually do is before i go to bed dam a bit of tooth paste on my spots and this dried them up and then after you should moisturise and soon they will go away...good luck =]
    Wire brush and Dettol
all you can really do is get some kind of scrub. If it's important to you, you will find the time, or have a friend or family member pick some up for you.

Do this once/twice a day and it should start working,

    It worked for me!!
use water with baking soda. that should help a little bit. and make sure you dont stop moisturizing just because you have oily skin. if you wash your face without moisturizing it, your face will produce more natural oils.

i also have the same skin combination as your's, i use st ive's face scrub for dry/ sensitive skin and my skin is really healthy looking, it dosen't dry out the skin it make's it feel nice and smooth, also it gently removes dead skin cells to reveal healthy skin.Facial scrub for sensitive skin type?
Olay would be a good chioce, the St Ives one would probably be 2 abrsive 4 ur skin type. good luck broken wings, xx
Olay makes cleansers and moisturizers for sensitive skin but not a face scrub. St. Ives makes a face scrub for sensitive skin. Neutrogena also makes a face wash for ultra sensitive skin and has alcohol-free toners and moisturizers for sensitive skin. Cetaphil is also a very gentle line of cleansers and moisturizers.
Philosophy Purity Made Simple is an excellent cleanser.

How old should you be to start using make- u and similar products such as facial scrubs?

I understand that as long as teh appliance of make-up compliments a person in an appropriate way, it is acceptable. However, is there a certain age limit to when girls should use limit to avoid damaging as little of their skin as possible?

After all, they are still young with supple skin- wouldn't products such as dead sea facial scrubs abrase/damage it?How old should you be to start using make- u and similar products such as facial scrubs?
I agree with the first answer. Girls who don't have acne shouldn't waste their money and time on exfoliating scrubs, moisturizers, etc...You're right, exfoliating scrubs aren't necessary for young girls.

Kids (boys and girls) should wash their faces daily, with plain water. To wash away sweat, dirt, etc...

But once a girl gets acne (usually around 11-14), she should use a gentle facial cleanser at morning and night. I like Cetaphil cleanser, personally. How old should you be to start using make- u and similar products such as facial scrubs?
Yeah, I wouldn't EVER to ANY age recommend those rough little facial pads to clean your face. I'd use the face soap or the new Neutrogena Wave which work and feels REALLY good.

Makeup, I think it depends on the how much and how they are wearing it. I think at 9yrs old they should be able to use a little bit of clear lip gloss and light pink or blue eyeshadow.

At age ten, I think that a young girl should be able to have a little more color in the eyeshadow and wear some pink or clear lipgloss. At age 11, I think they can add some mascara.

At age twelve I think some eyeliner could be added. I wouldn't really let a kid or pre-teen or even a young teen wear foundation unless there is just HORRIBLE, OUTRAGEOUS acne b/c if it ever does clear up, you have to keep wearing it For the REST of your life. I'd if foundation is needed I'd use loose powder b/c that is not harmful nor permanent to your skin :)

    Hope this helps :)
i say no younger than 11. now when i say 11 i dont mean go full out foundation and concealer and all that! i mean do a little blush some mascara some eye shadow / liner. after 12 u can do tha concealer but dont start using foundation til u r at least 13 unless u have discolored skin, acne, ect. and the facial scrubs, dont use scrubs til ur 14 or so. use cleansers that dont ';scrub'; ur skin and have little beads in them that make ur skin rough.
well, when you start getting pimples and acne, then you know you are old enough because the oil from your skin that creates the acne, protects the youth of your skin when you use stronger products such as dead sea facial scrub

    =) hope i helped!
well im 13, i use eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip gloss and occasionally bronzer and blush. i dont rly use the face stuff like foundation and powder.

i dont think facial scrubs would damage skin...it's supposed to cleanse it lol

What's the best facial scrub out there?

=]What's the best facial scrub out there?
I really like the St Ives Apricot Scrub - blemish control one, it always sorts out my skin really well, makes it have a healthy glow (looks really good if you use it when you're getting ready for a night out, smooths out your skins and then your makeup goes on really well). I use that about 3 times a week (but it can be used everyday). The rest of the time I use the St Ives Cream wash. Hope this helps! xxWhat's the best facial scrub out there?
There's a lot of good scrubs out there. But you can also give yourself a sugar facial. It's quick, easy, and virtually inexpensive. And it makes your skin look GREAT!

Just take about 1/8 of sugar, or less, and rub it all over your face while you're showering. Then, wash it off and gently pat your face dry.

    hih
    i use st.ives apricot scrub.

    works good.
clean and clear micro beads for deep wash
My favorite is Lush Ocean Salt. It's the strongest scrub I've ever used and gets rid of dry skin while leaving skin smooth and soft. It's an all natural product containing coarse sea salt for exfoliating and avocado for softening skin. My fav you should try it sometime, they have samples at the store.
I don't buy scrubs. They're a waste of money. I make my own by combining olive oil with some sugar.
i like apricot scrub. it is cheap, it works, it smells good.
Arbonne Intelligence Exfoliating Masque with Thermal Fusion!! i use this every day and love it!!
Whats best for me is like what most people are saying, St. Ives apricot scrub.

Is it better to put facial scrubs in the morning or at night?

I have the St. Ives blemish and blackhead control, apricot scrub. And the Blackhead eliminating daily scrub by Neautrogena. Is it better is I use them at night or in the morning? because I think that if in the morning it'll catch germs when I go to school/work and at night it'll come off cause of the sweat. Is it better to put facial scrubs in the morning or at night?
facial scrubs are horrible for the skin.they irritate your skin%26amp;make you produce more oils.the result?more acne.

what you need to do is go to a dermatologist.

    I just visited mine.(:

%26amp;my skin feels GREAT.Is it better to put facial scrubs in the morning or at night?
You should avoid scrubs that use crushed shells, they put microscopic lacerations on the skin. Stick with mailable substances or man-made ingredients like polyethylene beads. Jojoba is great for blemished skin. You should only be using scrubs 2-3 times a week, any more could be over stimulating to the skin an produce more oil. It doesn't matter when but it would be great if you could follow with an acne mask and treatment product then let your skin breathe. Basic cleansing day and night should be enough but make sure your washing for a full minute to break down oils and acne causing bacteria. Good luck.

From what age can people start using facial and non facial scrubs?

When they hit puberty and actually have a reason to use them, in other words oily skin and acne. Young children only need plain old soap and water to keep clean and scrubbing may harm their face.

But the moment someone hits puberty isn't the best time either, since some start at age 8. The best time is probably when they are responsible enough to follow the directions and do it all themselves, otherwise you will need to supervise them all the time while they wash their face with these chemicals.

So about 12.From what age can people start using facial and non facial scrubs?
i started at the age of 9 or 10... because when puberty hits pimples just start comin !! but start when you think you are ready.. good luck ! by they way, Noxzema is a GREAT face wash! From what age can people start using facial and non facial scrubs?
I really don't think there is a need for it until you reach puberty.
id say any age except infants, however it is important to see which skin type is needed -dry,greasy or combination.

If for children or those with sensitive skin, try 'Simple' which is free of colours and fragrances.
    When you hit puberty
When the person learns to use make up properly.

I would say about 15 years old.
Any age- unless you're a infant or young child, because it might irritate skin.
Hi, from the age you are old enough to ask- teens especially- to stop spots- lv Jo xx
like i would say 14 because for me my skin was really sensitive at the age of 11 and 12 i used all those skin care scrubs like clean and clear neautrogena etc. and it just made my skin more irritated

  • Can you gain weight with facial scrubs containing sugar, or with oily moisturizers?

I know it seems like a dumb question, but I really would like to know. Some of these skin-care products contain plenty of sugar (apricot scrubs, etc) or fat (lotions with oil). These sugars and fats penetrate the skin and enter our systems.

Do they count as calories ingested? Or is it just the calories you EAT that count towards weight loss/gain?Can you gain weight with facial scrubs containing sugar, or with oily moisturizers?
indeed, it is a very interesting question

well...homosepians (human beings) do not have the ability to absorb a lot of things though their skin like other creatures (e.g. unicellular organisms). So it is safe for you to use any of these products on your skin.

this is mainly because of the surface area to volume ratio factor. Humans need a specialised system for absorbing food, which is the digestive system. so unuless you eat the stuff, it is not counted as calories!!! and would not cause weight gain.

However, some products that contain cortisone or steroids might cause weight gain, not because of the energy content, but becuase of the way steroids work in the body!!Can you gain weight with facial scrubs containing sugar, or with oily moisturizers?
I hope you are not serious. You cannot gain weight by putting stuff on your body, you can cause damage to your body by putting stuff on, such as cancer. The damage is to your cells, though it is not ingested.
    Are you kidding me?

No. The skin does not absorb calories.

Stop worrying and start living happily.
    just the ones you eat
    noo way, are you kidding?

St Ives Apricot Facial Scrub? Does it work?

I just got the blackhead clearing solution- does it work?St Ives Apricot Facial Scrub? Does it work?
I love it! =) I have tried everything and when I finally tried St. Ives my face cleared up in just a few days!St Ives Apricot Facial Scrub? Does it work?
YES, it does work. I had the dullest skin ever, and blackheads all over my nose. This worked like a charm: it smoothed my face, got rid of my blackheads, and it made my face glow.
Never used that particular solution but I have definitely used St ives Apricot scrub before. when I was younger and used it, my skin would have a nice glow when I am done but as I got older and my skin became more sensitive I find that sometimes the exfoliants may just be a little too harsh for my face.
Use this it is really good
It is excellent. They also make it in a sensitive formula if the regular is too harsh for you. It's a wonderful product.
It works like a dream! Remember to let the product do the exfoliating for you. Don't use too much pressure or you'll end up abrading your face. Keep in mind to use the product AFTER your regular cleanser, as it clears blackheads best when used on clean skin.
    yes!!
Yes it does and it's wonderful and fairly inexpensive. I've been using it for years.
St Ives Apricot scrub definitely works and the best thing about it is that it has different products for different skin types

What's a good homemade facial scrub?

Coarse Sea Salt and Olive Oil. Make a paste out of it and scrub away.
