No homemade recipes, but a benzoyl peroxide cream like Quinoderm or Clearasil will stop your skin producing the excess oil, and reduce the spots in about five days.Getting rid of spots (caused by oily skin) without facial scrubs?
Spots are caused by bacteria on the face infecting pores. If you have a better immune system, you don't get spots as easily. Therefore make sure you eat well (lots of fruit and veg). Also they can be encouraged at your time of the month so be aware of that.

There are two ways to deal with spots- you can treat the spot or try to prevent it. As your skin is oily I'd suggest adding 10 drops tea tree oil (you can get it from holland and barrett) to a bottle of witch hazel (from superdrug about 2 quid). After washing your face (you should do this twice a day morn and night) rub over your face with cotton wool. Have you always had oily skin, was it ever very dry for a period before becoming oily. You could be stripping you skin of too much oil so its over producing.

If your skin isn't sensitive then dab tea tree oil straight onto spots, but bare in mind it can be a bit drying. Lavender oil is a bit gentler than tea tree, but not as good at making it less inflamed. If it is sensitive, then dab the witch hazel solution onto spots during the day.

There is a skin care range called Witch that my sister uses and says its good, so that's worth a try. She uses the foaming face wash.

Exfoliation (facial scrubs) do contribute to good skin. Dead skin cells can block pores and cause black heads and trap bacteria. So try to exfoliate once or twice a week or more if your skin can deal with it. A good cheap natural scrub you can make is by using a coffee grinder to grind up sunflower seeds. Mix with a little water and massage into your skin.

A toner will rid you of excess oil and freshen the skin. Astringents tighten pores and therefore make them look smaller. Witch hazel is a good astringent.

Mint-Vinegar Toner

1 tbsp dried mint ot 3 tbsp fresh mint

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 cup distilled water (or you can use rose water if you can't find dist. water)

The acid of the vinegar will help keep you skin an acidic Ph which will guard against infection.

Mix all ingredients together. Stir thoroughly and allow to sit for 3 days. Strain or filter the mint leaves. Pour toner into a clean bottle and apply to face with cotton wool..

Strawberry Acne Mask

1/2 cup fresh strawberries

1 egg white

2 tsp honey

Strawberries contain salycylic acid which is in many commercial products for acne/spots. Honey is a well known antibacterial ingredient. Both are beneficial if you have spots. Mix together using a blender or fork. Spread over your face and neck and leave for 20 mins. Rinse with cool water and pat skin dry. Refridgerate any leftover for up to a week.

If you use make-up and use your fingers in pots of foundation, concealer etc then make sure you wash before you use so you don't introduce bacteria to it, or use a spoon or cotton bud to get it out.. Keep your hair and hands off your face, your hair will aggravate your skin and your hands touch door handles, toilet locks, and surfaces which all will have lots of bacteria on!

Get plenty of sleep and try not to get stressed out which can cause spots! Good luck with your skin.
Neutrogena makes a spot gel kind of stuff, and you just rub it on the spot that is starting to come up, and the gel just takes the oil out of it. And you can rub a super-thin layer on your face everyday to keep oil of of you whole face. It might dry your skin out, though, so make sure you have some really good oil-free moistruizer. I reccommend Biore's pore-minimizing moisturizer, because it's got sunscreen in it as well.

In order to keep your skin oil free and clean from dirt it is very important to periodically wash your face water using glycerin based soap. By using glycerin based soap or sorbitol based face cleanser, you will get rid of all your skin鈥檚 oil without over-drying or irritating it. Also another reason for using these types of soaps is that they also balance the acidity of your skin, this creates a hostile environment for bacteria to grow resulting in a cleaner face.
