Is the ';St. Ives Microdermabrasion Scrub'; really microdermabrasion or just a facial cream with crystals inside?

What's the difference between the St. Ives scrub and real microdermabrasion that is performed by a doctor? Is the ';St. Ives Microdermabrasion Scrub'; really microdermabrasion or just a facial cream with crystals inside?
Both treatments over the counter and performed by the doctor's office are very tough on your skin. They aren't like an apricot scrub that just gets off the top layer, it's more harsh with other chemicals. Doctors treatments are honestly something I would never suggest to anyone, you really don't need a peel for your skin that bad unless you have LOTS of scarring or you're one of those 40+ women terrified of a few laugh lines. I would suggest over the counter St. ives stuff, which is probably not as hard on your skin. be sure to moisturize afterwards and then let your skin heal back!!Is the ';St. Ives Microdermabrasion Scrub'; really microdermabrasion or just a facial cream with crystals inside?
JUst with crystals inside only real microdermabrasion can be done at the doctors or facialist
I've used several St. Ives products and none have worked. Real microdermabrasion is a procedure performed by a doctor and has dramatic results. I've seen some at-home kits that I want to try, but all the St. Ives stuff seems to be just thick creams with beads in them, and none have worked [for me].
